A sweet little ford of The Icicle River while it's still just a creek...

My gear - an inexpensive Mad Dog pack (which did just fine) and a small shoulder sling bag. The sling bag was a pain in the butt from the first step. Important tip: Make sure your gear fits in your pack! Don;t have extra crap to carry on a long hike. You'll hate it with a passion the entire trip.

The last 4 mile section of trail. 45 degree angle switchback just keep going up, and up and up. You keep thinking you're almost to the lake, but the trail laughs at you. I came close to spending that night on the trail I was so tired. I kept telling myself "I'm gettin' to old for this!" However I was later disabused of this notion. Don't blame age for lack of conditioning.

I did finally make it to the lake though.
I just put down my pad and sleeping bag and crashed.
