Wandering Ones

The main Icicle trail goes on for miles and miles, with offshoots to mountain lakes all along the way. The very popular main trail is pounded to dust by hikers, horses, mules, and even llamas.
After eating dust for a while the next day, I decided to go take a side trip on the abandoned Lake Margaret trail.

Look! Fungi for a Fun Guy!

I found that someone had like the solitude of old trails as much as I did. They however made a shelter that looked more like a deadfall trap (and looked like a hell of a lot of work!)

And they seemed to like to heat the sky. Not really scout material...

Oh, maybe this is why the trail was closed...

Fortunately, the French Creek bridge was still intact (as I returned to camp)

Looking up French Creek...

So, it was a fun trip. The only pain was a constantly deflating Therma rest mattress. I went in on Sunday, and came out Tuesday night (I had planned on leaving on Wednesday, but sore hips and less sleep decided me to leave early). I got a late start for the truck so had an interesting time hiking out through a nighttime forest.

So now, all I have to figure out is how to get that pack lighter! :)
