Chain Lakes 2008

This fall, i decided to try to get into the Chain Lakes near Stevens Pass in North Central Washington. I had last made this trip in my early thirties (I'm now 48) and it was a tough climb even then. It's about 5 miles of up and down hiking to the base of the Chain Lakes trail, and then another 4 miles or so of very steep switchbacks. However, I had a lot of new gear, and my pack was probably twenty pounds lighter that on my earlier trips, carrying an old Army ALICE large pack.
